Registered Dental Hygienist
Erin started out as a dental assistant in 2006 then went back to school to become a Certified Dental Assistant. After practicing as an assistant for several years she still wanted to learn more. Now as a Registered Dental hygienist she is continuing her education through online studies with UBC. She is a goal-oriented individual that believes in life-long learning. Over the years, Erin has worked with a variety of patients, from children to the elderly. Patient comfort and overall oral health is her utmost goal in practicing dental hygiene. This is one of the several reasons of why she has enjoyed working with the staff here in that high standards and patient satisfaction is key.
Erin has a calm and easy- going personality that has helped her work especially well with those that do not enjoy coming to the dental office. Aside from her work interests she enjoys working on her farm with her husband, gardening, barrel racing and just about any activity as long as it is outdoors.
Certified Dental Assistant
I am proud to say I have been working as a Dental Assistant since 2004. I absolutely love my job and the many wonderful patients I have met during this time. My goals are to help people achieve their best smile while helping them feel at ease in the dental office. I stay current in my continuing education to help our patients maintain their oral health.
While not at work I enjoy family time which includes my husband and our two children! I also enjoy time spent at the lake, hiking, traveling, golf and photography.
It is my desire to continue my career in dentistry working to help people achieve the smile of their dreams, with my
wonderful co-workers for many years to come.
Certified Dental Assistant
I grew up in the small town of Crossfield just north of Calgary, Alberta. I've called Crossfield my home until I moved to Kamloops at the start of 2018. Before moving here I graduated in 2016 from Columbia College in Calgary. Growing up in a rural area I enjoyed dirt biking and going camping. In Kamloops, I've been going on hikes and exploring as much of BC as I can. Volley ball has also been a major part of my life playing club, coaching, and now finding a recreational league here.
My favourite part about being a dental assistant is having the ability to help people. Being able to watch patients walk out of the office with a smile every day makes the hard work all worth it. Working at Dr. Della Summers Dental Solutions is like being apart of a big family with a fun environment. I'm very excited to be developing the foundation of my career here and learning from such amazing professionals in a friendly community.
Kym has joined our practice and brings a few, "PLUS SOME" years of dentistry, and a few "PLUS SOME" patient experiences with her. Kym's career began as a chairside dental assistant, where she spent many clinical hours treating wonderful clients, weekly general anesthetic hospital experiences and participated in outreach clinics, bringing dentistry to folks who couldn't manage to travel. She has watched dentistry change immensely and is always excited about the new and progressive growth in her dental career. In 1989 Kym started spending more time behind the front desk and became overwhelmed with revolutionizing the business aspect of a dental practice, providing an environment that encourages team members to grow, while still offering the BEST OVERALL PATIENT EXPERIENCE ever.
In her spare time, she shares many adventures making memories with her children and her grandchildren, camping, traveling and really living every moment to the fullest. Relocating to Kamloops after 26 years residing on Vancouver Island, she is looking forward to all 4 seasons and is excited to be settled back into this area.
Shandi is our mighty Office Treatment Coordinator. Shandi has spent more time in a dental office than out of one over the years, as she literally grew up contributing to a family practice. Shandi began working under the close supervision of both her parents from the age of 14 and then attending college in Prince George and Victoria to further her dental education. She has always had a passion for this industry and making patients SMILE.
When Shandi is not fulfilling her professional goals, you can find her at the barn riding her horses, Sage and Shelby: She also enjoys helping the young kids who are starting to ride and loves nothing more than watching the connection between a girl and her horse. She is a competitive barrel racer in the BCRA and BCBRA circuits. At home, Shandi has an incredible 8-year-old son Wyatt, and a new baby boy Kase, who spends a lot of time in the office these days.
"She never shook the stars from their appointed courses, but she loved good men and she rode good horses."
